When Nabeel's® Imported Foods & Cafe was opened by Ottavia and John Krontiras, it was because they believed very strongly that there should be a place in America for a neighborhood cafe and shop like the ones they grew up with in Europe. These family-run establishments provided a place for the entire family to browse leisurely, have a cup of coffee, or shop for goodies. In these neighborhood stores, customers were treated as people- not just a ticket passing through the checkout line. Ottavia was born in Trieste in Northern Italy and John is a native of Patras in Southern Greece. John and Ottavia realized that there was a need for a family- oriented place where their children and yours would be welcome.
Having seen fast-food franchises come and go, they believe food with home-cooked taste is the reason for their success. At Nabeel's, we turn back the hands of time to provide you with thoughtful, personal service. You can be assured when you return to our store, you will experience the same great taste and quality service as your last visit. We are dedicated to making your time here satisfying.
When John and Ottavia's son, Anthony, traveled across Europe with his father, he would often ask, "Papa, why don't we open a store like the one in Turin, or Athens, or Brussels, or Carrara?" We have done just that, recreating that neighborhood Old World store of years past.
Nabeel's - the best of eating and pleasant shopping - is sincerely committed to making your visit satisfactory in every possible way. To you, our honored guests, we say, "thank you".
Online Stores Up and Running
Over the last year, several of our restaurants have decided to take their inventory online. They’ve asked BirminghamMenus to help them construct Internet storefronts where they can sell a wide array of items, from t-shirts to pottery to candy and more. We started by building a store for Hot and Hot Fish Club, and recently opened online stores for Everything Iz and Nabeel’s. These stores have amazing products, and by purchasing online you are supporting local restaurants and the Birmingham economy. Click the link below to read more about these stores, and to start shopping!
